Measuring Your Head

How To Measure

Finding the right wig size is essential for comfort, security, and a natural fit.

At Haló, each unit is designed to look and feel seamless which starts with accurate measurements.

You’ll need a soft measuring tape, a mirror, and if you have natural hair keep it flattened (braided, wrapped, or secured close to your scalp). Measure in inches and keep the tape snug, not tight.

If your measurements fall between two sizes, some prefer to choose the larger option (it’s easier to adjust a slightly bigger cap than to stretch one that’s too small). However, depending on how close to each size the measurements fall, it is worth remembering that your wig cap may strech over time. If you are closer to say - a small rather than a medium, sizing down to a small may be the best option.

This can be confusing for anyone new to this, so please get in touch if you need any guidance. If you are coming for a consultation, you can try both sizes to see what you find most comfortable.

1. Circumference:

Measure around your entire hairline:Start at the center of your forehead.Run the tape behind your ears, around the nape of your neck, and back up to the front hairline.
This determines your overall wig size (Petite, Average, or Large).

2. Front to Nape:

Measure from the front hairline (middle of your forehead) straight back over the crown to the nape of your neck.
This ensures your wig sits correctly front to back without slipping or lifting.

3. Ear to Ear (Across Forehead):

Place the tape from the top edge of one ear, across your forehead, to the top edge of the opposite ear.
This helps determine lace placement and frontal sizing.

4. Ear to Ear (Over the Top):

Position the tape at the top of one ear, move over the top of your head, and stop at the top of the other ear.
This affects how the wig cap sits and whether extra depth is needed for full coverage.

5. Temple to Temple (Round Back):

Place the tape at one temple, run it around the back of your head, just above the occipital bone, to the opposite temple.
This measurement helps the wig contour naturally along your head shape.

6. Nape of Neck:

Measure across the nape, from one side of your hairline (or where it would be) to the other.
This ensures the wig hugs securely at the base without lifting.
